What have they gotten very good a collecting? Answer- Information about their user base. They know who we are, when we're active and all about our browsing habits. They use this to create targeted advertising and have monetized it. Monetizing, however, is not the only fuel, businesses are looking for. An IAM solution can provide the most elemental data point: who the user is -- their identity. It's important to note that some cloud-based IAM vendors have a focus area. Few cover all aspects of IAM -- and therefore have some limitations. This is where it's really important to understand the four subdomains of IAM: identity data; identity management; access governance; and access enforcement. Some vendors focus on federation and authentication. Some are great at directory replication within a homogeneous platform. Some specialize in provisioning and de-provisioning. The Indian government's recent move to link one billion of Aadhar numbers to bank accounts and mobiles is fraught with security risks. And that multiplies the criticality of having an Identity and Access Management Solution. Though the Indian businesses trust organizations like Microsoft, IBM and Oracle with their identity and access controls, contemporary vendors too are taking long strides in this space to win their confidence. Microsoft's Azure Active Directory, IBM's Security Identity and Access Assurance, and Oracle's Identity Cloud Service have laid certain benchmark approaches towards this portion of the security domain. However, India is slowly matching pace with this crazily growing momentum of Identity and Access Control solutions. In this edition of CIOReview India, we are bringing together a list of top 20 most promising Identity and Access Management solution providers. While many changes in the security domain make our lives more difficult, these vendors riding these changing IAM tides continue to improve business outcomes, improve the user experience and increase operational efficiency.Flip through and let us know what you think.Emmanuel Christi DasAsst.
