One may try to escape a discussion without mentioning `Artificial Intelligence', but the force is so strong with this one, that a brush up through the topic is guaranteed. Take any vertical or use case for that matter, chances are, AI has been there before. I have prefaced the AI evolution in our previous AI edition, so I decided to take this opportunity to spare you the history. Its history abounds with booms and busts, extravagant promises and frustrating disappointments. Is it different this time? New analysis suggests yes: AI is finally starting to deliver real-life business benefits. The ingredients for a breakthrough are in place. Computer power is growing significantly, algorithms are becoming more sophisticated, and, perhaps most important of all, the world is generating vast quantities of the fuel that powers AI--data- billions of gigabytes of it every day. But where are these cult of people who enable AI?On a recent work related meet, I found myself in a swanky-but-glamorous workspace- seated on both sides were AI enthusiasts. Distracted as I was, I started gazing around as far as I could catch sight- all I could see were people diligently typing away at their laptops against a backdrop of Iron Man wallpaper, and a black screen swarming with blue-white-yellow texts on their laptops, which I can tell were codes. Algorithms. Programs. It was strangely satisfying to see the quietness, mixed with frequent joy filled YES-&-NOs when a rando successfully compiled his program. I was in Bangalore and they were the amazingly intelligent drivers of Artificial Intelligence in the country. We look around and find `n' number of suppliers of AI technologies. And, behold, many new uses are only in the experimental phase. Google Duplex, does ring a bell. Few products are on the market or are likely to arrive there soon to drive immediate and widespread adoption. In this edition of CIOReview India, we have brought together a pack of zealous AI domain players who have been doing some mad crazy innovations to further blur the lines between science fiction and reality. Corporate or individual, there is something for everyone, and believe me I chose the two categories of users with confidence, because there is. Look through and let us know what you think.
