Did that leave you glassy eyed? Yes? No? Not really? A sci-fi movie buff couldn't have shaken off the awe of Interstellar's humour and honesty settings with `TARS' for a good long time. Be advised that conventional wisdom holds that artificial intelligence is the next great horizontal technology that has already summoned future waves of innovation. AI is not a single type of technology. It hides multiple astonishing forms that affects and impacts every industry, every workflow, every application and every routine-from as meagre as your alarm clock to your office's biometrics. Artificial Intelligence has a long history of stubbornness to remain a subject of discussion. It still doesn't look like it's going to fade away anytime soon. In 1967, Marvin Minsky, co-founder of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's AI laboratory, said, "Within a generation the problem of creating `artificial intelligence' will substantially be solved." Farsighted or just wrong? Let's not jump to conclusions yet. Frameworks like Facebook's Wit.ai and Howdy's Slack bot are competing to become the Visual Basic of AI, promising point-and-click development of intelligent conversational interfaces to relatively unsophisticated developers. And cloud platforms like Google's APIs and Microsoft Azure allow you to create intelligent apps without having to worry about setting up and maintaining accompanying infrastructure. Here, I will take the opportunity to mention racetrack.ai and Wipro Holmes- the Indian AI players being showcased in this edition of CIOReview. Committed to sales and post-sales support objectives, Racetrack.ai brings to the table, a cloud-based communication BoT that, accurately simulates human-like conversations with your customers. Wipro HOLMES from the Indian Tech giant Wipro, is a rich set of cognitive computing services that further empowers the development of AI powered systems. With India showing potential to bear the torch for Asia's AI revolution, many vendors have strengthened their foot hold to improve the speed of decision making and the level of sophistication. CIOReview recognizes the top 20 most promising AI solution providers in India. These vendors are capable of providing the tools to magnify the human intelligence that Mr. Hawking has spoken about. Come take a look and do let us know what you think. Emmanuel Christi DasAsst. Editoremmanuel@cioreviewindia.com.AI Apocalypse or AI Wonder- Something to Ponder
